BIO

Bernard Mensah works in software engineering by day and writes stories by night. He is the author of titles like Esi the Brave and Yawa the Adventurer. He is passionate about Black and African representation in publishing and founded HabermanNerds to nurture and promote African storytelling. He grew up in Ghana, climbing trees, playing soccer, and dreaming up stories at the library. Bernard now lives in the United Kingdom with his two rambunctious boys.

Based in Columbus, Ohio, Annalise Barber-Opp illustrates for children and those who are young at heart. Stylistically, Annalise experiments with sinuous shapes and playful narratives. Her previous clients include names such as Dial Books for Young Readers, Abrams Books, and Spider Magazine. In addition to publishing for children, Annalise also teaches young minds as a K-8 art teacher. Both in the classroom and in her artwork, Annalise aims to inspire and empower children by crafting diverse stories.
